The works of Kazutaka Miyatake, a pioneering anime mechanical designer, will be on exhibit beginning October 24th on the grounds of the museum ship Mikasa in Yokosuka, Kanagawa. Admission is included with admission to the Mikasa.
Mr. Miyatake's career spans SF and robot legends from Starblazers to Aura Battler Dunbine and Galaxy Express 999, as well as titles like Eureka Seven and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
The exhibit includes everything from his work on the power suit illustrations used for the Japanese edition of Starship Troopers to the TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross and the film Bye-bye, Jupiter. The exhibition is scheduled through November 23rd.
On the opening day, October 24th, a panel hosted by Studio Nue writer Shigeru Morita will be held with Mr. Miyatake and Starship Troopers illustrator Naoyuki Kato.
Reservations are limited to the first 300 and open at 5:00 PM on October 9th.
