The Experience Starts on September 19th! The VR Video “Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN Char’s Sally” Experience Report

“Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN Char’s Sally,” Gundam THE ORIGIN’s first VR video experience, will finally begin on September 19^th (Tues) at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo.

This time, the Gundam.info Editorial Department was able to try out the VR experience ahead of its release. Furthermore, a comment from Producer Kiichiro Inoue from Sunrise D.I.D. Studio, the studio that was responsible for the development of the VR, was also received. Let’s look at both together.

■ A Special Booth to Appear at Shinjuku Piccadilly! Experience the Battle of Loum!

First, what surprised us was the special booth that appeared on the first-floor lobby of Shinjuku Piccadilly. A large drawing of Char fitted with a VR headset and Char’s Zaku II on the wall’s surface is the highlight of the booth.
Additionally, keyframes from the currently big-hit theater screening of Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN: Clash at Battle of Loum will also be on display on a separate wall. It will get attendees excited right before entering the theater.

Once led into the experience booth, you will be able to put on the VR headset. Even if you are unfamiliar with headsets, staff members will be present to provide assistance. Listen attentively to their instructions and rest assured as you plunge into the experience.
When the video experience begins, you will feel a sensation as if you were thrust into the Universal Century battlefield. After taking on the role of Char Aznable, you will struggle through the harsh battlefield of Loum. Though details have yet to be revealed, definitely be sure to take this opportunity to participate in an all-new video experience.

■ The First VR Produced by Sunrise! A Staff Comment Has Arrived!

Not only did the VR appear, but so did a comment from Producer Kiichiro Inoue from Sunrise D.I.D. Studio. The studio is also responsible for the CG production of Gundam THE ORIGIN.

Char’s Sally is Sunrise’s first genuine VR video.
This experience recreates one scene from the currently screening “Clash at Battle of Loum,”
but it allows for a premium experience unique to VR where you can freely survey your setting in 360° from Char’s point of view. It is because of D.I.D., who is also responsible for the CG of the OVA, that we were able to have high reproducibility where you can enjoy various discoveries by repeatedly watching this VR and the OVA. You, too, will take on Char’s role! Definitely please visit Shinjuku Piccadilly.

“Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN: Char’s Sally” will be available from September 19^th (Tues) to September 29^th (Fri) only on the weekdays. Reservations are required for this experience and are currently being accepted in floods on the special website for the VR. It is also required for you to have your movie ticket or stub for that day for “Clash at Battle of Loum” at Shinjuku Piccadilly in order to participate.
