Stage greetings for the second week of screenings for Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN: Clash at Battle of Loum, currently a big-hit screening event at 35 theaters nationwide, took place on September 9th (Sat) at Kawasaki CINECITTA in Kanagawa. This time, Ms. Megumi Han, voice of Sayla Mass, Mr. Shigeo Kiyama, voice of Ramba Ral, Mr. Kenta Miyake, voice of Dozle Zabi, and Ms. Ai Kayano, voice of Zenna Zabi, along with Producer Osamu Taniguchi took the stage.
During the beginning of the greetings, Mr. Miyake greeted with, “Hello, I’m a new father from the Zabi family,” while Ms. Kayano greeted with, “Thank you for always taking care of my husband.” The two actors’ husband and wife greetings caused laughter to erupt from the audience.
When asked what they were conscious of when acting their respective roles, Ms. Han replied, “I acted out Sayla Mass’ emotions with the thought that ‘there is no longer anyone who will call me Artesia.’” Mr. Miyake said, “This time, I believe that we were able to see various sides of Dozle. I took into consideration the parts of Dozle that are glimpses of his future self that we have begun to see.”
Next, Mr. Kiyama and Mr. Miyake revealed that they had to repeatedly retake the powerful negotiation scene between Ramba Ral and Dozle Zabi countless times. Mr. Miyake enthusiastically said, “There was great care put into this vigorous scene as Dozle dealt with his own dilemmas while Ral had his own sense of righteousness and ambition.”
Additionally, Ms. Han commented on her impressive performance as Sayla, “I did it with the (Sayla’s) thought that, ‘I must do it, otherwise I won’t be able to protect anyone.’ Was it not because Sayla saw the reason for ‘why people wage war’ within herself?”
Mr. Miyake and Ms. Kayano were also asked about their roles as husband and wife. Ms. Kayano commented, “The amazing and adorable sides of Mr. Miyake overlaps with his role as Dozle, so it is quite heart-racing.” The venue became very excited at Mr. Miyake’s bashful reaction to her comment.
Producer Taniguchi was asked about the development of episode 5 “Clash at Battle of Loum.” He answered, “This episode is at a longer length when compared to the previous four episodes. Wasn’t the colony dropping scene impressive? As several bridge scenes in the battleship appear in this episode, mechanical design elements were incorporated into every corner of the setting.”
They were then questioned about their excitement for episode 6 “Birth of the Red Comet.” Mr. Miyake said, “I was told by Director Yasuhiko that this is the last of Dozle being adorable so I thought that I needed to re-brace myself once more.”
Lastly, brief comments were made by each guest.
Megumi Han (Sayla Mass)
I’m now nervous as I will likely earnestly become Sayla Mass as she faces the war in the next episodes. I want to be able to deliver a message to more people through this series. I look forward to the future following this episode.
Shigeo Kiyama (Ramba Ral)
As someone that was allowed to take part in this series, I wish to continue to watch over the series in the future as well. I want to entrust the future Zeon Forces to everyone here.
Kenta Miyake (Dozle Zabi)
After “Clash at Battle of Loum,” the Gundam world will increase in severity and the battles will continue one after another. We actors, the staff members, and the production team are all struggling to do our very best, so we ask that you please continue to support this series.
Ai Kayano (Zenna Zabi)
I think that it’s fun that I was able to act the life of one woman as she, Zenna Mia, becomes Zenna Zabi. I (as Zenna) must protect Dozle and Minerva, so I wish to continue doing my best from now on as a mother.
Osamu Taniguchi (Producer)
As this screening is being shown at 35 theaters nationwide for a period of four weeks, we have gone with a format that will have a great number of people watching. Additionally, this time, a VR video will also open in Shinjuku Piccadilly, so I would definitely like if everyone tries it out. You can pilot Char’s Zaku so everyone should definitely visit.
This time, a loud chorus of “Sieg Zeon!” was prompted by Zenna Zabi, thanks to Ms. Kayano, who yelled out the phrase. A photo session also took place for fans in the venue, making the event extremely lively until the very end.
