THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO, Japan’s first domestic Gunpla-focused center, finally held its grand opening on the seventh floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba, Tokyo on August 19th (Sat).
GUNDAM BASE TOKYO is a facility where approximately 2,000 types of Gunpla are gathered, from the first Gunpla sold in 1980 to the latest Gunpla, and will share various Gunpla information and attractions with the theme “Let’s Make Gunpla!” to Gunpla fans of all generations from all over the world.
There is official merchandise such as regular goods, tools, and stationary, as well as many limited-edition products that can only be purchased at GUNDAM BASE TOKYO. STRICT-G, the world of Gundam expressed as a fashion brand, has also opened inside the facility.
There are also contents that you can enjoy outside of shopping, such as a display related to the Bandai Hobby Center, the domestic factory where Gunpla and its predecessors are manufactured, deployed in the facility.
Furthermore, “Gundam Build Fighters World” is currently being held from August 19th (Sat) to September 11th (Mon) at the Event Zone inside the facility as its first event. Aside from key animations and characters being on display, event-limited Gunpla are also sold at the event.
A private preview was held for authorized officials on August 17th (Thurs) ahead of its opening and the full particulars of the facility were revealed. Without further ado, we will deliver a photo report of the private preview.

▲ We were greeted by successive Gunplas and works of the Gunpla Supporters at the entrance! There are also displays of the latest Gunpla as well as limited-edition GUNDAM BASE TOKYO products!

▲ Approximately 2,000 types of Gunpla are on display and sold in the Shop Zone. The sight of the latest to nostalgic Gunpla kits all gathered in one room is incredible!
▲ At the Factory Zone, you can study the production process through a Gunpla design experience.
▲ The works of the Gunpla Builders World Cup Champion are also on display!
▲ You can immediately assemble the Gunpla you have purchased at the shop at the Builders Zone, which is comprised of the Builders Room and the Painting Room. Model samples that were previously published in magazines are on display in the glass cases! Try it out. ※ The Painting Room is scheduled to open on September 2nd (Sat).
▲ Various events are scheduled to be held in the Event Zone. Valuable key animations and model sheets are on display during “Gundam Build Fighters World,” which will be held until September 11th (Mon), and statues of Mao, Sei, and Reiji make appearances too!
▲ Over 200 items have been assembled at STRICT-G. A first-come-first-serve present event is also being held. For details about the present, please read this article.
