“THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO,” Japan’s first domestic Gunpla center, will open in summer 2017!

“THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO,” Japan’s first domestic Gunpla-focused center, will open in the Rinkai Fukutoshin (Tokyo Water Front) area on the 7^th floor of the DIVERCITY TOKYO PLAZA facility in summer 2017.

Gunpla, the greatest hit plastic model series, has sold over a total of 459 million products as of March 2016 since the line first launched in July 1980. “THE GUNDAM BASE” was established as an official store in Korea in 2003 and in Taiwan in 2005 ahead of Japan with the goal of spreading Gunpla throughout Asia. There is currently a total of 11 store branches operating in two countries.

As Gunpla approaches its 40^th anniversary in 2020 since its first release, this center will be opened in the tourist-heavy Rinkai Fukutoshin (Tokyo Water Front) area and will have the greatest collection of approximately 2,000 different Gunpla products in the store. This facility will offer various information with the theme “Let’s Make Gunpla!” to Gunpla fans of all generations all over the world.

This facility will, of course, offer standard Gunpla products as well as a countless number of scheduled releases of limited edition products that can only be purchased at THE GUNDAM BASE. Additionally, products for sale include different types of tools related to Gunpla building, official goods such as stationary and more, as well as the reopening of “STRICT-G,” a fashion brand that presents the world of Gundam through their products. There will also be many other things to enjoy besides shopping such as “GUNPLA TOKYO,” an exhibition of Gunpla’s history all in one place, a booth related to the “BANDAI HOBBY CENTER,” the domestic factory where Gunplas are manufactured, video and music productions, event spaces and more.
